The International Justice Clinic is pleased to release today a report advocating for the creation of a National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) in the United States. The Report, Establishing a National Human Rights Institution in the United States, is the result of months of student research, over twenty interviews with NHRI experts and practitioners worldwide and two workshops hosted by the Clinic in 2022. Congratulations especially to the report’s authors over two semesters: Judy Baladi, Abigail Leigh, Shaady Alavi-Moghaddam, Miranda Tafoya and Sadaf Doost, We will have more to say about the report in coming days, including in the context of a major civil society letter calling on the Biden administration to establish a Presidential Commission to study and explore the creation of an American NHRI, to be released shortly.

The report, in the meantime, may be found here.
